Defying Gravity: Use words that relate to being weightless and floating.
it is
a dance
between
here and there, go and stop
in step and out
i am
lost in the middle
of an over-large room the
walls so far beyond my reach
a floating ball of
human stuff,
a human lost
in the sea of air
between
a breath and a shout,
who ever thought i'd miss that weight?
i am
trouble.
troubled;
troubling?
floating in and out of
step with it, and
dancing to
another rhythm,
lost without that weight.
i am
free. i am caught. i am left
to find my way back,
i am not who i
thought,
i am
the dance between
the light ahead
the heart's beating
the feather
falling
free
A.
You know that jolt
As you’re falling asleep?
The one where
You briefly feel weightless,
Adrift, somewhere in the twilight
Of sleep and awake.
That liminal space of
Beautiful nothingness is amazing.
I feel like Tinker Bell
Saying to her Peter Pan,
“That’s where I’ll find you,”
But it seems so
Contrived
To pretend that I’m some
Ethereal thing when
My beauty is very rooted to the ground.
If I float over anything
It’s on airy drifts of thought, a
Dandelion seed spinning
Through the air on the wind.
Sure, I’m pretty enough,
But my imagination and intelligence
Are forms of beauty too.
And as I watch you,
Our eyes meet, and an idea
Ricochets from
My eyes into your head.
A smile crosses our lips,
Twin mirrors of the same,
And I don’t know what to do
With this information.
But I like it.
Drifting weightlessly
To the soft grassy ground.
You and I are not
So very different;
However, nor are we the same
Identical person.
There’s a whole host
Of things preventing that.
Still,
My airy beauty
And your feline grace
Are nothing except
Twinned, the soul of one
Finding comfort
In the other.

The galaxy spins
Round and round
The clouds above
Fall to the ground
In a torrential downpour
Of love and grace.
I am not your
Only lovely ace;
A creature of love and beauty
So divine
That everyone wishes
I were thine.
I can’t help but rhyme
This awful mess
Into a place
Of new redress
I’m really reaching now
For the sky
But it’s not
Twice as high
As I feared.
Here with you
Is where I belong.
Earthly beauty,
Darling grace,
Stay with me until
Everything is dust.
